The station closed for five and a half months for the replacement of its three aging elevators, quietyly reopened on Wednesday, May 4th.  Small businesses within the station suffered from lack of foot traffic during the closure.  in the

Some things never change, NYC subway riders are always in a hurry.
Riders exit the elevators and walk  down the terrazzo passageway toward the stairs leading to the platform.  Clark Street is one of the deepest stations in the entire system. This project did not make the statio ADA accessible.
Clark Street Station ReOpening
Riders are relieved to reach street level in the new elevators. All agreed the ride was quieter, faster and overall felt safer and more secure.
Mural depicting Brooklyn Heights life, entitled "Clark Street Passage" by Ray Ring, was added to the station in 1987.
Esther Davis exclaimed, "Oh my G-d, I'm so happy [Ckark Street] is open again!"
Rider, Esther Davis gives two-thumbs up for the completion of the project. For the past five and a half months, Davis, who lives in Crown Heights  had to walk back from Court Street "through all kinds of weather" to get to her job in  Brooklyn Heights.

Jamie Johnson (left) and Kate McCormick have lived in Brooklyn Heights for eight and thirty-four years respectively.  The re-opening of the Clark Street station is a cause for celebration.
