A vacant home erupted in a fire that was reported at 6:20 this morning. The home, 255 Howard Avenue was vacant for many years. The neighborhood is one of the most expensive areas of Staten Island, and is near several schools, including the Staten Island Campus of St John’s University, Notre Dame Academy and Wagner College. FDNY and the Building Department were on scene at 9:45 am.
