Captain Zeita Merchant assumed Command of Sector New York in a Change of Command held at USCG Sector New York. She replaced Captain Jason Tama who finished his tour, and accepted new orders to Washington, DC. The ceremony was presided over by Rear Admiral Thomas Allan, District Commander. The FDNY provided a large flag hung near the Verrazano Bridge. Howitzers shot a 21 gun salute during the ceremony. FDNY Bagpipers played a tribute to Captain Tama. An H60 helicopter from USCG Air Station Cape Cod flew in for the event, and the Small Boat Station brought in boats they parked on the grass.
