In a new plaza created in front of the Coast Guard building in lower Manhattan. Among the dignitaries attending were USCG Commandant Karl Schultz; Rear Admiral Thomas G. Allan, Commander, First Coast Guard District; Captain Zeita Merchant, Commander, Coast Guard Sector New York; State Senator Brian Kavanagh; James Hendon, Cmmissioner, NYC Department of Veterans’ Services; NNYC Parks Commissioner Gabrielle Fialkoff; Congressman Jerrold Nadler, and Warrie Price, President and Founder, The Battery Conservancy. A reception followed at the historic Fraunces Tavern.
